I’ve always been known to lather on plenty of sunscreen and be pretty pale (I prefer the word fair skinned) all year round =). I don’t normally sunbathe for hours under the sun and frankly, I haven’t been able to get to the beach very much the past few years. But once the warm weather springs around, I’m all for the summer bronze glow. There’s something so beautiful about healthy, sun-kissed skin and tousled beachy hair. Here are some of my trusted beauty products I use to get a fresh, summer bronze glow without hitting the beaches. Some links below are affiliate.
for the body:
Since I don’t tan under the sun often or go to tanning salons, I opt for a great tanning mouse or lotion at home to get a natural, faux glow. Be wary of the millions of products out there that can make you look like an oompa-loompa… that’s not the look we are going for.
I’ve tried many self-tanning products. Some were great, some not so great. These are my top two brands for easy, natural, professional quality, sunless tanning. They don’t transfer on my sheets or smell bad. I put some on just before bed and by the morning you will have magically transformed into a bronzed beauty ;).
Million Dollar Tan and St. Tropez
These products were reviewed as some of the ‘best in glow’ by top magazines, beauty experts, and bloggers around the world for their award winning kits. I’ve tried many drugstore options and although I’m always on the hunt for a dupe, I can’t replace these self-tanners. Over the years these brands have launched new and improved products. Try the mousse formulas. Million Dollar Tan and St. Tropez actually hold up to all the claims.

for the face:
Hourglass Radiant Bronzer is a wonderful all-over the face bronzer. It has a marbled effect with tiny flecks of shimmer. It’s an amazing blendable product that is foolproof to use and a little goes a very long way. I use a big fluffy brush to swirl into the product, tap off any excess, and apply to areas where the sun would naturally hit. If I’m not using this bronzer, I’m reaching for this newer bronzing kit and a recent purchase, the Anastasia Glow Kit. This kit is giving me life at the moment!! It is a quad palette with the most amazing metallic powder highlighters. I mix up all the bronzy shades with a big brush and go along the sides of my forehead, cheekbones, jawline and down my neck. I use the lightest shade Sunburst for the tops of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose, on the brow bone and inner corners of the eyes as an eye brightener. I will opt to use this kit for a quick and effortless contoured look. If you’re curious about contouring and products, you can find and read my post here.
Tarte Amazonian Clay BB and L’Oreal LUMI are two illuminating products I like to mix in with my foundations for an extra glowy face. It makes your everyday foundation look radiant! I use a small dime size amount of an illuminator and foundation and blend it on the back of my hand or palette and then apply it to the face with a brush or a beauty blender. I alternate between the Tarte and L’Oreal. One is high-end and the other is a drugstore (don’t you just love driugstore dupes?!) Tarte Amazonian Clay BB is a new addition to my makeup collection. It’s an illuminating bb moisturizer so of course, it can be worn on it’s own as well. It’s tinted for a little bit of coverage too. L’Oreal True Match LUMI Liquid Glow Illuminator in Golden has been my tried and trusted product of many years. It’s more on the golden side which I prefer. I normally don’t wear it on it’s own as a highlighter but you definitely could and it would look fab that way as well.
for the hair:
When I think of glowy, sun-kissed makeup, I think of beachy, tousled hair. I’ve been using Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray for a few years now. It’s a salt-infused styling spray for volume and texture. The Surf Spray works nice with my hair since my hair type is fine and it craves some body and wave. It’s kind of like taking the beach home, without sandy toes and sunburns 🙂 Another product I’ve been loving from Bumble and Bumble is their Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. Invisible Oil lasts me years since I use just the smallest amount to the ends of my hair to smooth, shine and tame any frizzies. It makes your hair look and feel healthy and silky. It even has UVA/UVB filters and heat styling protection (bonus!).
The last product worth mentioning is a multipurpose dry oil for all over the body and hair. NUXE Huile Prodigieuse is new to my collection after watching Tati, beauty Youtuber, rave about it (who else feels the urge to buy products after watching makeup hauls and tutorials?). I simply add some drops to the palms of my hand and massage it on my body and in my hair. NUXE contained golden particles that leaves a subtle shimmer on your skin. I’ve never used a “dry oil” before so it dries instantly once applied. Your skin instantly feels hydrated, even slightly “sticky” but since I have drier skin, I don’t mind at all. It claims to repair and soften your face, body and hair from the unique combination of 30 percent precious plant oils and vitamin E.
That’s all folks! Those are some of my fav beauty products for a healthy, summer bronze glow. What are some of yours?
