I’m excited to share this brush holder DIY with you! I’m in the process of redecorating by bedroom and one of the focal points of the room is my vanity.  I knew it needed some new decor there and I’ve seen a lot of amazing DIY gold vases, here and here on Pinterest.  If you haven’t seen my Instagram, I’m a real sucker for inspirational phrases and quotes.  I wanted some words or phrases that would work with my beauty space where I get pampered each morning. Some links below are affiliate.

You’ll need some Krylon Metallic Paint.  Currently, I have a grey and gold bedroom theme going on and I needed some more gold in my life (who doesn’t).  By chance I came across these Elmer’s stickers while at Walmart.  The trick is to find stickers that stay “true” to the shape of the letters, if you know what I mean.  There’s no point in using these as reverse stencils if the letter A looks like a triangle after being spray painted.  These Elmer ones looked promising *fingers crossed*.  They also come with plenty of each letter, both lower case and capitals, which was the best part (for mess-ups, long phrases and/or multiple projects).

I bought these vases from the dollar store.  Only $1.50 each! I wiped them down so they were nice and clean to ensure my little sticker friends would adhere the best they could.  I added my phrases and used painters tape for vertical and horizontal stripes.  Be sure to press all the stickers and tape pieces down firmly!  I could have spent extra time doing this as some letters started to lift after my second coat of paint but you live and you learn! I also cut out some shapes with the painter’s tape for added details such as the heart and lips.

Stuff the jars with some paper to avoid overspray inside the jars.  I took the jars outside and gave them three light coats of spray paint.  I waited about 10 minutes in between coats.  Read a book, check your Facebook, or make a coffee while they dry :).  Once they were all sprayed and dry to the touch, I peeled off the stickers.  I didn’t have trouble doing this.  And that’s it! Inexpensive DIY gold quoted makeup brush holders!  I’m on a gold spray painting marathon! If you liked this, more are on the way!

I really love them! They look like something you bought in a shop (and something that would definitely cost quite a bit too!). I will definitely let you know when I get around to trying them! oxoxo

I love it. Where did you get your cute round tray? I can’t seem to find anything cute 🙁

    • Oh my… I won’t be much help again. I got a few of those trays thrifted from my local shops! If you have thrift stores nearby, try them out! They always seem to have these types of trays for a few bucks 🙂 Very budget friendly
