I love a good cozy sweater for a comfortable day outfit. This heart one is perfect for the occasion. I got it a few years ago and each year I wear it on Valentine’s Day. Actually, I love it so much I wear it all winter/fall long. It’s warm, loose and neutral but packs a statement. It looks great on its own or layered up- in this case, with some pops of pink. Since I live in Canada, it is
usually always frigid and/or snowing, and layering pieces are a must. I’ll even wear a thermal long sleeve underneath the sweater for those extra blistering cold days. Lately it’s been mild where I am. I’m a little happy I might be able to wear this without extra layers.

There it is. My heart sweater. I purchased it from Forever 21 but I’ve seen a lot of similar styles now. I can dress it up chic or down with some yoga pants. I also like the big bold black hearts. You could spot me a mile away.
Since this sweater is so neutral, I like to dress it up with some colour whether that be with coloured pants, or a coloured jacket/vest. If colour isn’t really your style, I’ll have a neutral outfit post next week that has a similar feel minus the bold pops. Here are a few simple pieces I added to my sweater to dress it up and to keep me warm.
Faux Leather Pants. I just love wearing faux leather pants or leggings. They make any outfit feel edgy and sexy. With a cutesy sweater, it’s a nice balance. I have a few pairs of faux leather leggings but these ones are actually pants so they’re nice and thick. Try tucking one side of the sweater into your pants. With a loose sweater, a little tuck will locate your waist and give your figure some shape.
Wedge Heels. Seriously, wedge heels are pure comfort when I feel like getting dressed up. I wear these bad boys everywhere. I’m starting to think I need a new pair or some in different colours :). When I don’t feel like wearing high heels but still want some height for a night out, I always opt for a pair of wedges. They’re just so easy to slip on. Of course you could go with a pair of black booties or over the knee boots. The options for shoes are endless.
Statement Necklace. I could live off statement necklaces alone. I chose a neutral coloured necklace that was thick and dark so it would be visible on a bold sweater. Now I’m feeling semi-dressed up.
Coloured Scarf. I have an obsession with scarves. Long, short, chunky, wool, cashmere, rainbow.. I don’t discriminate. I chose a pink one for Valentine’s, gifted a few years ago. I like how it’s light and doesn’t take over my outfit but still provides something wrapped around my neck.
Bright Coloured Vest. A vest is a great piece for extra warmth and coziness without being overly bulky. Try a solid coloured vest. A rather neutral outfit with pops of colour adds some life during the dreary winter months.
